The research group carries out transdisciplinary research in Applied Linguistics and Computer Science. Topics of interest include human language processing, discourse, artificial intelligence (AI), analysis of emotions in voice and facial movements, intelligibility between human and machine, learning foreign languages through AI, production of teaching materials for virtual laboratory, feminist and decolonial computer programming. The group draws both on discussions about human language and production of meanings and on decolonial questioning of knowledge and power relations and strategies in the contemporary social, technological and colonial context. Most of the group’s discussions and research are carried out at ELLA – English Learning Laboratory.
