Coordination: Eliane Silveira and Micaela Pafume Coelho (IFMT)

The research group aims to promote research on the theoretical framework provided by Ferdinand de Saussure, a Genevan linguist who is considered the founder of linguistics, as well as its implications in current research. Its investigations have the potential to renew the field of linguistics and its effects in different areas of knowledge, as evident in how Saussure’s work has been appraised by scholars. The research group has covered the most diverse fields of Saussurean production, including legends, anagrams, and linguistic theory. Its main material for analysis is Saussure’s manuscripts archived at the Public Library of Geneva and his Course in General Linguistics and its critical editions. The group focuses both on his products and the reception of his materials.
